Dr. James Harrington is the founder of Blue Spine and the inventor of its patented minimally invasive spine procedures. With over 40 years of experience in spine surgery, Dr. Harrington has performed more than 80,000 procedures and achieved a patient satisfaction rate of 98.75%.

A Pioneer in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

Dr. Harrington began developing his groundbreaking surgical techniques in the 1980s, at a time when spine surgery was dominated by highly invasive open procedures requiring general anesthesia and lengthy hospital stays. His vision was to create procedures that treated the exact source of pain with minimal disruption to surrounding tissue.

The result was a series of patented techniques that allow most patients to remain awake under local anesthesia, undergo the procedure through micro-incisions, and walk out of the facility the same day.

The Blue Spine Method

What makes Dr. Harrington’s approach unique is the combination of real-time visualization, specialized instruments he designed himself, and local anesthesia that allows the patient to communicate with the surgical team throughout the procedure. This patient feedback loop is a critical safety feature that distinguishes the Blue Spine Method from conventional spine surgery.

Recognition and Publications

Dr. Harrington has been recognized by numerous medical organizations and has published research on minimally invasive spine surgery techniques. He continues to refine and advance the procedures he pioneered, training other surgeons in the Blue Spine Method.
